To Youth and Students of the World for the 17th WFYS, South Africa.

Youth has always been a vital force in the development of societies. With natural creativity, will of change, transformation and strength, the struggle of youth for freedom, peace and social transformation, for the right to education, employment, democratic rights and peace has always had a significant role in the general struggle for a fair and peaceful world.

The 8th Conference of European Communist Youth Organizations took place in March 16 - 17th 2010 in the European Parliament building. The main slogan of this meeting was: "The struggle of young communists against capitalist barbarism and anticommunism for socialism". Delegates of Communist Youth Organizations from one hundred and fifty countries attended the meeting.

Because EU rail liberalisation packages are not just contrary to trade union perspectives but are having a negative effect on our societies, on rail users and workers, as a first step, we are calling for a mass protest at the offices of the European Railway Agency in Lille on Tuesday 13 April 2010.

The Communist Youth Union (KSM) at its extraordinary legalizing congress that has taken place on 13th March 2010 in Prague appreciated with great gratitude the received solidarity help and support of the brotherly communist youth organizations and of all the progressive and democratic youth movement of the world.

In the aftermath of a campaign orchestrated essentially by powerful European media companies, which have viciously attacked Cuba, and following a sullied debate, the European Parliament has just passed a condemnation resolution against our country manipulating sentiments, distorting facts, deceiving people and obscuring reality.

Living nature, in permanent motion and transformation, has shown itself harshly on the territory of our country, causing destruction, death and sorrow throughout society, particularly among the popular masses. We of the Chilean Communist Party (Proletarian Action) PC(AP) show our solidarity with each and every one of those who inhabit the territory of the Republic of Chile. The CC of the Communist Youth of Greece strongly condemns the new anti-communist evolutions in Poland. The Polish government, immersed in the anti-communist spirit that develops under the wing of the EU, banned the use of the historical symbols of the international communist movement. After the unacceptable fiestas that the European imperialists organized on the anniversary of the 20 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is demonstrated again that their announcements on "democracy" and "freedom" are not only empty words but also the cover of the monopolies dictatorship.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth has received with great joy the news of the approval of the media law in Argentina which breaks with an old law imposed by the military dictatorship that favoured the rich and only a few media as the Media Emporium Clarín that controlled a large majority of the media.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth has closely followed the events that is happening in Mexico after the decree signed by the President of the Republic, which obliterates the Company Luz y Fuerza del Centro, which results in the loss of 66 thousand jobs, expressed by the Mexican government reasons that pretend to deceive the people, when only want to get of privatisation and to remove the Mexican Electricians' Union.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth have received warmly the news about the return of the legitimate President Manuel Zelaya to his country after he was dismissed illegally in a coup d’état orchestrated by the fascist oligarchy Honduran supported for the American Imperialism that has been accomplice from the beginning of this monstrous fact that has brought only suffering and pain to the beloved Honduran people.

The European Communist Youth Organizations strongly condemns the Israeli air-strikes and ground invasion of Gaza that has bought about a new huge massacre of Palestinian people. This savage and bloody strike that has left hundreds dead and thousands wounded couldn't take place without the total support and endorsement of the US, EU and NATO.

Imperialist forces are promoting the plan for the ‘New Middle East’ that brings more profits to trans-national corporations and death, blood, poverty and hunger to the people of the region.

The Popular Movement against the EU rises from the need of the citizens of the Czech Republic to oppose the European Union and the consequences of its existence in individual domains of the social life.

The aim of the Popular Movement against the EU among others is to inform the citizens of the Czech Republic about a real character of the European Union and its imperialist, anti-people and anti-democratic policies...

The Youth Organisations participating in the 7^th Meeting of European CYOs held in Barcelona on November 1^st and 2^nd 2008. Under the Slogan "Let’s Fight for Social Transformation in Europe! For Socialism!" Declare:

The events that have taken place over the last year are a confirmation of the imperialistic and antidemocratic character of the European Union...

A youth conference on the revival of the Leninist Communist Youth League of the USSR has taken place in Moscow on October 19, which brought together young people representing different republics of the former USSR. Young people with communist views from Belarus, Kirgizia, Tadzhikistan and the Ukraine, as well as from nine regions of Russia participated in the conference organized by the RCYL(B), CPSS (the Communist Party of the USSR), RKRP-RPK. Members of RUSO, ISKRA and other organizations were also invited to attend the conference. Representatives of communist organizations from Azerbaijan and Moldova were not able to arrive in time for the event, but supported the undertaking in specially issued statement s. The Socialist Party of Latvia, which held its convention in Riga at the same time as the conference, made positive comments about endeavor and the Communist Youth League of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) also sent its support and congratulation. Journalists also participated in the conference.

On 10-11^th January, in the European Parliament (Brussels) a seminar of the WFDY Commission on Europe and North America devoted to higher education was successfully conducted with the help of the Parliament fraction of the Greek Communist Party. The topic of the seminar was: "The intensification of the struggle for accessible and free higher education against the strategy of Big Business".

The 5th Meeting of European Communist Youth Organizations took place in Prague, Czech Republic from 27th to 29th October 2006 with attendance of communist youth organizations from Austria, Belgium, Britain, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and the Czech Republic. The World Federation of Democratic Youth also participated in the meeting as observer. The meeting took place under the slogan "Struggle of European Youth against Attacks on Social and Democratic Rights - Militant Offensive against Anticommunism! For Decent Life and Socialist Future for the Youth!", comprising an important moment for the analysis of the political, social and economical situation of young people in different European countries, for the coordination of efforts and for the exchange of experiences of work and struggle amongst the communist youth organizations in Europe.
